Oh my gosh...I've been meaning to sit down and update our blog for over a month now but we have had so much going on, our lives have just been crazy!
First things first, Cody and I went to our final baby appointment to see the genetic specialist at Sacred Heart over 3 weeks ago and found out that our little bundle of joy is a BOY!! That's right...another boy! The ultrasound tech had just started the ultrasound when BAM...the first thing we see up on the monitor is our little snuffy's little snuffy LOL. Although we were kind of hoping for a little girl, we are so relieved to find out that he is growing perfectly, he is the perfect size and all of his organs and limbs are forming perfectly...well, we are just so happy that he is a healthy little guy! The arrival date is still around the second week of January.
Next, for those of you who don't already know, Cody has accepted a position as Executive Chef at a new Bistro/Martini Bar in Albany called Vault 244. He has been working with Lane Brown, the general manager, for the past month purchasing equipment and supplies, interviewing and hiring new staff etc. just getting ready for the grand opening in September. He is so excited about the restaurant and this amazing opportunity to finally be able to display his talents with an owner/manager who has the same vision...it is a wonderful stepping stone in his career and I'm so proud of him! Here are a few of the most recent pics of the restaurant:

The same day Cody got his job offer from the Vault, I found out that my temporary contract with the Financial Aid office has been extended through October 31st which is very good news! They also extended my hours so I've been working full-time instead of 17 hours a week which will continue through the end of my contract. We were trying to move into a house before school started but timing with our jobs just didn't allow for that so we will most likely be moving to the Lebanon area for a year or so which will be happening the last week of September or the first week of October.
Dorian will be starting the 4th grade at Green Acres on September 1st and is looking forward to being a "returning" student instead of the "new kid"! Taylor has decided to stay with his dad for the first part of his Sophomore year and return to South Albany with hopes of transferring back to Philomath High School and moving in with us in March when he gets his license. He will be registering for school tomorrow which I still can't believe he will be a sophomore!
We also found out some great news about my tumor last Friday when we were at OHSU. It looks like my pituitary tumor isn't being effected by the pregnancy hormones which in turn is not effecting my vision which is really good news! I had a vision test and although my blind spot in my right eye is a little larger than it was this time last year, I still have great vision in my left eye. The doctor explained to us what I needed to watch for as far as vision loss during pregnancy and I have to return to the Casey Eye Institute in November for a re-check but for now my vision is safe!
Between all of the chaos the past month, Cody and I had a chance to get away together for an entire weekend of camping without kids a few weeks ago. So we headed to Olallie Lake which I would recommend to anyone! It is a primitive campground about 30 miles past Detroit lake but the drive is sooooo worth it! Once we got past our accidental sleeping arrangement (we only took a twin size air mattress instead of the queen, took turns sleeping on the hard ground and almost killed eachother before the night was over) we had a great time. Cody caught our dinner the first night we were there, (a juicy trout tha the breaded in garden herb triscuits and egg and cooked over the campfire....mmmmm mmm good!) and we were able to enjoy the peace and quiet and have a great time.
